Stepping Into 2026: Growth, Expansion & Creative Impact at POWA Creatives

POWA Creatives Uganda steps into 2026 with renewed vision, celebrating a year of growth, transformation, and expanding community impact across creative and vocational programs.

As we step into 2026, POWA Creatives Centre reflects on a year of growth, transformation, and expanding impact. What began in a humble church space has grown into a vibrant, creative, and vocational hub empowering youth, women, refugees, and emerging artists through structured programs and mentorship.

From creative arts to practical income-generating skills, our mission remains clear: to unleash creativity, cultivate excellence, and transform lives.

Our Journey: From Humble Beginnings to Growing Vision

POWA Creatives Centre began its journey in a small church space where passion and purpose brought young creatives together. Over time, that vision expanded beyond walls and limitations. Today, we operate from a rented facility that allows us to serve more students effectively. However, our long-term vision is to acquire permanent property where we will build structured training studios, vocational workshops, and administrative offices that will sustain future generations.

Through its expanding programs, POWA Creatives Uganda continues to empower youth, women, and refugees with practical skills and creative confidence.

Empowering Through Creativity & Skills

Through our diverse programs, we continue equipping learners with both creative and practical skills:

  • Arts & Crafts
  • Music Education
  • Tailoring & Fashion
  • Carpentry
  • Language Classes
  • Computer Training
  • Hair Plaiting & Salon Skills
  • Women Empowerment Program
  • Talent Development & Mentorship

Each program is designed not only to nurture talent but also to build discipline, confidence, leadership, and economic independence.

Spotlight: Our Growing Carpentry Program

One of the strongest pillars of our vocational training is the Carpentry Program. Through structured, hands-on workshops, students learn measurement techniques, tool handling, furniture construction, and finishing skills. These practical skills open doors to self-employment, apprenticeships, and small-scale entrepreneurship opportunities. Beyond woodworking, students gain confidence and the ability to create sustainable livelihoods.

Community Engagement & Partnerships

In 2025, POWA Creatives Centre had the privilege of teaching and performing at Rebuild UNHCR Kampala. During this engagement, our team conducted creative sessions and delivered inspiring performances, amplifying the voices of refugees and vulnerable communities.

Additionally, Amani Sasa invited Fidel Mambo to represent POWA Creatives Centre, where he conducted two weeks of intensive guitar lessons. Participants were equipped with foundational and performance-ready skills, strengthening our commitment to community-based music education.

Expanding Our Reach: POWA Branch in Chaka Refugee Camp

In September 2026, POWA Creatives Centre will open a new branch in Chaka Refugee Camp. This expansion reflects our commitment to reaching displaced and underserved communities with structured creative and vocational programs.

The Chaka branch will provide music, arts, vocational training, and mentorship programs designed to empower young people and women within the camp. Through this initiative, we aim to nurture talent, restore hope, and create sustainable pathways toward self-reliance.
